Below is a summary of what you need to know if your employer super plan is moving to Mercer Business Super.
If you don’t have an employer super plan with us, we can help you get more information about paying contributions for ‘choice of fund’ employees.
As part of our ongoing commitment to make managing super easier for you and your employees, we’re moving all Mercer Super plans to a single, modern technology platform
Around 20 March 2026 your employer plan will be transferred from Mercer Super Trust – SmartSuper plan or Mercer SmartSuper Plan to Mercer Business Super
The move will make it easier for you and your employees to find key account information like Unique Superannuation Identifiers (USIs).
To ensure all member accounts are transferred safely and accurately, there will be a period where you will not be able to submit contributions from 4pm (AEDT) Monday 9 March to 9am (AEDT) Tuesday 31 March 2026.
We’ve created an employer checklist to help you prepare for the move. It includes new mandatory information that you will need to provide to successfully submit contributions to your new Mercer Business Super plan.
Download the checklist and be sure to share it with the people who manage your payroll and superannuation plan
Below are some frequently asked questions for employers. We also have frequently asked questions for your employees who are transferring to Mercer Business Super.
The below information applies if you are a participating employer in the Mercer Super Trust and have a Mercer Super employer plan which is transferring to Mercer Business Super. If you don’t have an employer super plan with us, skip to paying contributions for ‘choice of fund’ employees.
You may have employees who have chosen for their super contributions to be paid to their Mercer Super account through ‘choice of fund’. Employees with accounts in the following funds will transfer to Mercer Business Super on or around 20 March 2026.
You should pause all contributions for these employees from 4pm (AEDT) Monday 9 March 2026 while the transfer takes place. From Tuesday 31 March 2026 you can restart contributions using the new plan details:
* Transferring employees will receive a new account number for their Mercer Business Super account. You should ask your employees with transferring Mercer Super accounts (outside of your employer plan) to provide you with their new Mercer Business Super account number so you can update your SuperStream file. Your employees can view their new account number by logging into their member portal from Tuesday 31 March 2026. It will also be included in their welcome communication in April. Importantly, while the account number is recommended, it is not mandatory information. If you don’t have an employee’s new account number yet you can still submit contributions with their old account number and we can match this to your employee’s account. However, if your employee has multiple accounts the contribution may not be attributed to the intended account.
Thank you for your patience during the transfer. If you’ve got any questions, email our Employer Support team at employer.support@esuper.com.au – we’re here to help you.
